JOB TITLE: Commercial Banker

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all facets of lending; interviews applicants, explains loan programs available, oversees processing and underwrites.  Approves or denies loans within scope of authority or makes recommendations to Loan Committee.  Assures applicant receives all forms and notices to comply with federal and state lending regulations, consumer protection laws. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Promote and develop marketing strategies within assigned branches to achieve the goals and objectives of the Business Banking team, local community and Division Banks.

2. Sell business products and services to customers and prospects of Advantage Bank including but not limited to: Merchant credit(s) services, business loans, equipment leases, Consumer loans and deposit products, payroll services, business VISA and ensure that the banking needs of business customers are met.

3. Generate core deposits from the business sector and company owners and employees.

4. Develop and expand market potential by making quality business loans.

5. Develop a solid network of professional referral sources to increase the number of loans and maximize relationship sales opportunities.

6. Manage own business lending activities associated with the production of new loans and loan relationships.
Ensure that all such activities performed on behalf of AdvantageBank comply with bank policies and local, state & federal requirements.

7. Ensure that Advantage Bank assets are not placed at unacceptable levels of risk by monetary delinquencies, charge offs, substandard loans, and collection activity as necessary.

8. Coach and train new lenders, credit analysts and branch staff as necessary to achieve results that relate to business lending activities.

9. Proactively recommend ideas to enhance the performance of the Business Banking Services Group.

10. Promote Advantage Bank business banking division through a high level of community activities.
Responsible for prospecting for new clients, including consumers, businesses and governmental agencies, to generate new deposit and loan relationships with minimum outside calling goals.
 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  4-year college degree required in finance, marketing or other related degree considered.  Formal credit training and understanding of SB 504, 7 (A) and Linked Deposit programs.

Experience: 
  3-5 years of banking experience with a minimum 4 years experience in business lending, loan origination and portfolio management.  Commercial loan workout experience a plus.  Extensive branch manager or centralized credit score experience a plus.  Proven track record of business development, originating loans to companies with $7 million and under in annual revenues, and recognition of cross-sell opportunities.  Existing client base and referral network a plus.

Skills:    Ability to network and develop loan relationship referral sources.  Should be familiar with all aspects of underwriting, documenting and preparing loan packages for closing.  Good negotiation and excellent communication skills required
