
JOB TITLE: COMMERCIAL CREDIT OFFICER
FLSA JOB STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: VP Commercial Credit Manager
This person would be responsible for the preparation and coordination of loan documentation and credit file information. This person will also be accountable for evaluating the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for commercial lending credit with Advantage Bank. Additional duties would be analyzing loan data on any new, existing, and renewed commercial real estate or business loans to include data provided by credit bureaus, other banks and lending institutions. The Credit Analyst will prepare and present loan recommendations in conjunction with commercial lending officers and be expected to provide spreadsheet information that would indicate summaries and reports that would influence loan decisions providing analytical support to the Vice President Commercial Lending.
1. Analyze, evaluate and obtain all available and necessary financial data from the client, credit file and/or outside sources.
2. Develop credit information to use by senior management and report to Vice President Commercial Lending.
3. Prepare spreadsheet analysis and financial reports that help evaluate the information needed by commercial lending officers.
4. Assist with on-going computerization of the credit/loan review function.
5. Conduct research assignments as necessary to complete special projects.
6. Assist commercial lenders with preparation of materials for credit request presentations and organization of operational files including confidential material.
7. Assign credit grades based upon credit-worthiness and review with lending in accordance with policy.
8. Develop credit information for use by senior credit personnel, lending officers and committees in lending decisions on new, renewal and existing loans.
9. Explore all available resources for credit and financial information.
10. Analyze financial statements, trend patters, and projections as required and prepare projections or assist with the preparation of projections.
11. Create account review files and maintain the database.
12. Spread financial statements and conduct credit investigations and analyze credit information pertaining to commercial loans.
13. Evaluate credit bureaus and applications for purchase.
14. Assist in the funding process of commercial loans and annual credit review of financial information.
15. Establish and maintain credit files and assist with automated documentation preparation as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: 4-year undergraduate degree in Business Administration or other related field. OMEGA Financial Accounting for Bankers or Commercial Loans to Business a plus. Formal commercial bank credit training completed.
EXPERIENCE: 1-5 years of banking experience in a commercial lending atmosphere.
SKILLS: Computer literate and able to use other office equipment. Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with staff or clients.
